end of life?

Postby michaelbudney » Mon Jun 02, 2008 3:27 am

I've read a few other posts here and I hope the product has not come to its end of life. A new version with multi monitor support and full screen thumbnail navigator would be all it needs.

Nothing out there is better. I don\'t understand IrfanView\'s popularity. It is quite bad after using cam2pc. FastStone is close though. I even think they took some ideas from c2p.

I guess you could call it end-of-life, because there\'s not one new version in last few months. No webpage updates either, no reaction from the developer to posts in the forum.
I\'ve seen some messages that the developer is still accepting payments, but is delivering no keys !!!!!

Don\'t understand me wrong, I love the program....

I remember the web site was down a few months ago but it did come back up. So I guess somebody is out there.

Given the increasing popularity of digital photography I'm surprised the product doesn't have more of a push. For what cam2pc does well (transfer, auto hot/dead pixel correction, advanced EXIF editing and full screen viewer) there isn't anything out there quite as good.

I'm always on the lookout for something new/better but so far haven't found anything. I found cam2pc when I was researching writing something similar myself but found someone already had.

This program does seem to be \"Mostly Dead\" to me as well. I have all but given up on it. I have switched to using FastStone for my browser and image transfer program. Cam2PC still has a few features that I miss and I would happily resume using it if the author would come around again. He has not posted since Sep 05, 2007. Even that was a short burst of activity (probably due to Vista) after a long lull. Just look at the Version History:

Hi,

Well, it really looks like it is the end of the road for cam2pc.
I come back lurking every now and then to see if nabocorp is showing up with some news.
In the meantime I have switched to another product. The best I found to replace cam2pc download ability and much, much more is idimager (http://www.idimager.com/)

best,

Christian

idImager

I agree with Christian - I have now moved over to idImager, and it is far more capable than Cam2PC.

Take Us To Our Leader

Postby Ardwych » Sat Aug 02, 2008 2:54 pm

I hate to have to say it but there is something that might attract our master back to our software.

If someone who\'s had full use out of cam2PC and moved to an alternative program were to list a serial code here then a new version requiring the re-issue of purchased codes would have to be composed..

Hmm, but that would likely invalidate the contract. Maybe not, then..

[And we could get our \\\\\\\' apostrophes \\\\\\\' fixed!]

I think finding the serial on the web is easy enough.
On the other hand, posting some link....

Just checking in to see if Cam2PC had come back to life after being dormant for so long. I guess not. I have moved on to Faststone and XNView but I still wish Cam2PC was being maintained.

I just looked and saw that the domain registration for nabocorp.com is due to expire in about 2 months. I wonder if that will be the end once and for all.

Rather interesting that Picassa is still not even close

Postby hpolack » Sat Oct 16, 2010 12:37 pm

I wonder why this software was never sold to another company to maintain and expand. It still by far my favorite and was 5 years ahead, in some ways still is, of the competition. I can't believe I still revert back to Cam2PC for uploading my pictures. I have tried to move away, but I can't based on the features. I was spoiled by this product and turn my nose up at the rest when I start to compare features and it seems like I am missing one or two little things that all add up to Cam2PC.

Well, I wonder how many are out there purchased this software and still use it even after no updates for two years. Post if your are :)

It's too bad if Cam2PC is no longer supported/enhanced. I have used it for a few years and it's perfect for what I do with my pictures. I was hoping to find some information on a problem I'm having (the program shuts itself down when I browse certain pictures), but it doesn't sound like it's likely I'd get any help.

I agree with most of what you have said... too bad it seems to have been abandoned. Time to move on.

I am new to this site and I joined to know more about the cam2pc product. I have a Nikon Digital camera and I always interface it to my laptop to edit the shots I have. I would want to know the capabilities of this software so I would know whether to purchase one. Thanks
