Picsaver background isn't working

I just downloaded and installed Picsaver, and everything seems to be running smoothly except that with every picture it displays, that part of the screen that isn't the picture is filled with strange graphic noise, as if each picture is displayed on top of a very scrambled version of itself. I was under the impression that the program should display pictures against a black background--is anyone else having this problem? I'm running it on a laptop with Windows 98.

Weird graphic noise

 I\'m also seeing this exact same problem with my break-neck 333 Mhz Pentium II Windows 98 SE system. I have 4 MB of video RAM and 384 MB system RAM.
