Canon Raw images get transfer file date not original

Postby Ray_Milgrom » Mon Feb 07, 2005 8:28 am

When Canon CR2 files are transferred, they acquire the date-stamp of the transfer instead of retaining their exposure date.

Also every file transfer causes Camp2PC to report an error (this has been posted elsewhere).

Cam2PC is configured to create receiving folders according to the image exposure date and does so correctly.

I would appreciate some help with the reported problems. Proper support will decide me to purchase this product.

Hello,

in which mode are you downloading your pictures?

Hi thanks for the response.

I'm not sure I understand your question - please forgive that. However as far as the Cam2PC options are concerned, the settings are as follows:

"Use mask to generate destination folder" is checked and
"Get date for each individual picture" is selected.

In a later dialogue box "flat file system" (or something like it) is checked.

As far as the camera settings are concerned, the setting is:
Camera protocol is "normal" not "PTP"

As far as the OS (WXP) is concerned, Cam2PC is launched in response to the D20 camera event.

Sorry if this answer is not what you were seeking.

Kind Regards,

Are you using a card reader or is the camera directly connected to the PC? I am surprised that a D20 appears as a removable drive. Are you sure it is the case? If you switch the camera type to PTP does the bug still comes up? Have you also tried to download the Canon support files (see http://www.cam2pc.com/download.php) ?

The camera does not appear as a removeable drive. I have downloaded the correct support files.

I have not tried switching the camera to PTP mode.

The big issue is the fact that each raw file transfer gives rise to an error reported by Cam2PC.

Fix this and I buy :-)
