Support for Canon Powershot S400 (Digital Ixus 400)

Postby Qoissi » Wed Apr 23, 2003 8:41 pm

Hello,

First of all, thanks a lot for that wonderful software. I concluded it was the best after having checked a lot of this kind. And I would add that the latest version of ZoomBrowser (v4) is really far away from being on top of my list... :(

My only problem is the support of the Canon Powershot S400 (aka Digital Ixus 400) that I just bought. Is there any hope to see a version of cam2pc supporting that model?
I have to keep ZoomBrowser installed just to download my pictures & movies. :(

Thanks again.

The new S400 uses a new protocol for transfering the pictures: PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol). S50, A300, A60 and A70 use this protocol also. This seems to be the problem.

As a developer I did not get any information from Canon whereas they will allow us to support their latest cameras. I'll try to get more info from Canon.

Hello,

I have contacted Nikon and they told me that they will soon release new components that will allow cam2pc to support their latest cameras (including the A70 and S400). I am really dependant on Nikon for this. As soon as I get something from them I'll incorporate it into cam2pc.

Any news on that? I tried my Ixus400 on windows 2000 and it freezes  Connection wizard. But I can see that 2 persons are using Ixus400 and cam2pc.

No news yet from Canon. For people reporting that cam2pc does work with the Ixus400 it's probably because they use a card reader and this fools cam2pc.

The new cam2pc 3.1.3 beta works fine with my Ixus 400.
You find a link to the 3.1.3 beta version in the sticky topic
"Support for Canon Powershot A70, and other new Canon cameras",
at the very top of the postings list.
