Feature request: Sort thumbnails not only by name

in the explorer view of the image browser i can sort files by name, size, date, ...
If I switch the view to thumbnails, they are always sorted by name.
Very often i meet friends having a digital camera too. So we take pictures
of the same things at the same time, everyone with his own kind of view.
Then it's my turn to archive these pictures and to create a slideshow.
In that case it would be great if I could sort the thumbnails by date/time,
so all pictures taken of the same theme are next to each other and it's easy to deside which to delete ...
It would be nice to have this feature in one of the next versions or would it be a problem with the thumbnail-performance?
