Feature request: more variables in folder creation mask

Postby photon » Mon Aug 16, 2004 11:40 pm

I use cam2pc to transfer images from CF cards to my PC. At home we have different cameras, used by different persons, and I'd like to be able to store those pictures in different folders.

Being able to use the "Model" and/or "Make" camera tags in the folder creation mask would be great!

And if such switches would exist, where should a movie go to? There is no EXIF data in movies so no Make / Model...

I personally could not care less about movies... but I understand the issue...

I thought the day/month/year values were retrieved from EXIF, not from the filesystem time itself... but apparently I was wrong.

I guess I'll write a little script or applet to do what I want :-(

This is a similar problem I have. I suggested the introduction of 'profiles' to deal with different situations (Work/Private and/or users).
Look at this topic:

You could probably just take it from the photos in the same folder - it is likely that they will have come from the same camera.

Yes but you make the assumption that there is at least one image taken on the same day available on the memory card.

If you could rename your images using Make/Model, will it be a good enough workaround?

And profile is a lot of work so it probably won't be in the 4.x series...

And what about my idea posted here some days ago?

http://www.nabocorp.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=439

I think it is not very complicated to implement and could provide the same help that those complicated profiles.

Thank you and cheers for everyone.

Your request has been implemented in upcoming 4.4 but it only concerns batch renaming. These people are talking about stuff at download time.
