how can I get cam2pc to (re)name my pics in the same way the Canon Zoombrowser does (for example: 123_1234.jpg instead of IMG_1234.jpg)?

Cam2pc offers no obvious way to do that. If you really want to duplicate Zoombrowser's naming without actually using it you might need to try a separate renaming utility such as the application from www.1-4a.com. But why? Cam2pc gives the best means I have found of applying informative naming consistently, and can do so during download, or retrospectively. Dump the Canon numbers and go with a better system!

even if you rename the pics with cam2pc the original filename is still stored in the exif-data header.

Maybe nabocorp can add this feature (advanced renaming tool).
I see no real use for it. Maybe if you want to restore the old filename.....
