Suggestion for naming file : original filename range

Postby cmagic » Fri Oct 31, 2003 11:28 am

Hi nabocorp,

1st of all, thanks again for such a nice software.

One thing though I'd like to see in a future release : the possibility to grab some range of the original filename in the rename file options.

Let me explain my point. In the naming scheme I'm used to, I keep the original numbering that was given by the camera (Breezesys downloader allows to do that) so that an original file like IMG_3654 is renamed 20030212-3654.

Currently I don't think there is a way to do this with the many options in cam2pc so I have to use another tool to rename my files after download. One great way to do this would be to add a 'range' function that would return only part of the original name. Let's say something like %{range:5:8} would return the substring between the 5th and 8th character of the original name (that's the number extraction in a DCIM compatible name)

what do you think ?

Have a great day / bonne journée.
A++

Has this feature been implemented? I can't find it in 4.3 :roll:

Lovely, thanks Christian. Off to France on holiday on Monday for 2.5 weeks - visiting the Lot valley.

Added %{substr:start:end}. It is available in 4.4 beta.

Just installed the new 4.4 version.

Thanks a lot for %{substr:start:length} ! :D I'm a happy guy !

I also like the improved red-eye reduction !

Thanks pour le bon boulot !
