Version 4 doesn't download from PowerShot S10

Postby martin10018 » Mon Oct 13, 2003 6:17 pm

:(
Starting with version 4.0, cam2pc doesn't download from my PowerShot S10 anymore. With version 3.x everything worked ok. All I get is the message 'Can't get list of files' (or something similar). Any idea why? (Of course I have installed the Canon plugin!)

Hello,

for cam2pc 4.0 the Canon components have been upgraded to the latest version available from Canon. On their site the S10 is supposed to be supported by this new version. Unfortunately I do not have a S10 myself so I do not see how I can fix this. If I ever find a solution, I'll keep you updated.

Best regards,

Is it possible to use the older version of the Canon components just for testing purposes. If yes, where can I download them since I can't find them anymore on my CDs?

Martin,

sorry the old Canon components are NOT compatible with cam2pc 4.0.

Have you also installed the Canon software (like Zoombrowser and drivers from the camera-CD), or only cam2pc?

Because I got the exact same error ("Can't get list of files") when I tried to download pictures from a Canon Ixus4 with cam2pc and cam2pc-canon-plugin installed, but without having the canon-software on my computer.

Maybe this helps,
Tom

I have installed the latest Canon WIA drivers (3.91 for S 10 on Win XP). Zoombrowser is not installed (and will not be...). Maybe I'll try to reinstall the WIA drivers.

Thanks for your help!

I have exactly the same experience  ; I'm running XP and are using cam2pc version 4.02. I also get the message "Error while getting list of files".

The XP camera wizard is functioning OK though but not nearly as user friendly! Please solve this problem.

Hello,

the next 4.1 version will add support for WIA cameras on XP and Me. You will be able to download pictures from these cameras without installing the Canon files as of today. Please look at the sticky post at the top of the cam2pc forum if you are willing to test the stuff.
