File Rename problem

My camera (Canon A60) make filenames on CF for regular shots as
Img_1234.jpg (number varies)
Snd_1234.wav (sound memo has same number) cam2pc doesn't transfer
For panorama pictures the name is
Sta_1235.jpg (1 st picture)
Stb_1236.jpg (2nd picture)
Ctc_1237.jpg (3rd picture)
...
And for movies there is 2 files per movie.
Mvi_2222.avi (real avi mjpg format)
Mvi_2222.thm (thumbnail) Cam2pc doesn't transfer this
The minor problem is that the cam2pc in all cases strip first letter of all files. (no renaming selected) same if renaming is selected (%F)
And with this the all video and panorama files are in the end.
How to overcome this (but I wish to keep counter from camera)?
The idea is to realy strip filename to underscore. So the filename could be just 2222.avi or maybe just better to make filename from parts of original filename before and after underscore.
