Small cam2pc update coming!

Postby nabocorp » Mon Jul 17, 2006 9:25 pm

Hello all,

as incredible as it may sound to all of you (and also to me BTW), a small cam2pc update is under the works. For the moment I have added:
- decoding of ISO rating for latest Canon cameras (including S3 IS)
- support for SimpleViewer galleries creation. You can check one sample of such a generated gallery here

I would like to add other fixes that you may list in this thread. As stated before, I do not have the same amount of time to spend on cam2pc but this update won't do bad to anyone so I will try to spend as much energy as possible to get some bugs fixed with this 4.5.3 release.

I am also thinking of adding flickr image upload in cam2pc but do not hold your breath.

Regards,
nabocorp

Wow, welcome back! It's good to see you are still alive and kicking! I think most of us had thought that cam2pc was dead - I'm glad we were wrong.

Dont know whether this is a bug or not but I cant see CR2 (Canon Raw) files in the preview pane. Thumbnails appear OK. Have installed the Canon-specific update but to no avail.

Good to see you back on the forums. Would hate to see Cam2PC disappear.

stephenjd,

I have two CR2 files that I use for my testing and they both show fine in the Preview pane. Maybe you can send me a file that does not show by mail: info at nabocorp.com so I can see what is going on.

As Cam2PC is still the best viewer ever tried, I just have only one wish... the support of PENTAX *ist Ds RAW files (PEF) :D :?:

I have the same problem with the RAW files from the Canon 350d
Can see the images in thumbnail view but not in preview.

My ideas to an updated version: folder manager and straighten image as in picasa.

No problems with cam2pc. On the contrary, it's the best viewer (and much more) I ever had. I am very glad with the announced update. I was already for months looking for an alternative for cam2pc - without success

I am so glad to see that you are back! I have not been able to find anything that quite replaces Cam2PC.

One issue that I have is that the colors do not display properly on a NEF file that is produced by a Nikod D70s. It appears that two (or more) of the color channels is swapped. I believe that the NEF files from a D70 work properly and that there was a minor change in the NEF from a D70s. Let me know if you need an example file and I can get one to you.

Thanks!

I would like to see an update which will properly decode ISO setting for Nikon D70 - it's written in non-standard, Nikon-specific field.
If You work on ISO setting for Canon, maybe it's good opportunity to make both changes at one time.
If You want, I can provide some samples and additional info.
Nice to see You again :)

Nikon NEF Format

Postby Noteaclaras » Fri Jul 28, 2006 10:36 am

Hi, nabocorp:

1.- Nikon NEF format looks ok in thumb mode but in fullscreen the image has incorrect colour.

2.- No JPEG lossless rotate, the date change when I rotate the image.

Thanks in advance.

Hello all,

could you send me Nikon NEF files that do not show up correctly and D70 files so I can check the ISO stuff?

Thanks,
nabocorp

Hello,

a \"beta\" of cam2pc 4.5.3 is available for download. Here are the release notes:

* Fixed display of ISO for latest Canon cameras (incl. S3 IS)
* Fixed EXIF Maker Notes decoding for latest Nikon cameras (incl. D70)
* Updated RAW decoding library for more cameras support
* Fixed Advanced Renaming when using exposure time
* SW: Added easy creation of SimpleViewer galleries (Flash enabled)
* SW: Added easy upload of Zenphoto galeries

The download URL is (shareware only):
http://www.nabocorp.com/cam2pc/4.5.3/cam2pc-setup.exe

If no major feedback is given this will be probably officially released by sunday...

Regards,
nabocorp

PS: BTW, flickr rejected my request to get a key to be allowed to use their API. That's why Zenphoto upload is included in this release!
